A Message From the President
The increasing number of parents who deliberately avoid their responsibilities to their families is a national concern. The amount of unpaid child support in the U.S. now totals more than $106 billion dollars, and that number continues to grow.
Government resources are limited, and despite their best efforts, government child support enforcement agencies collect nothing for more than half of all families they serve. This leaves thousands of parents frustrated and thousands of children without the court-ordered support they’re owed. Often, without child support, these families are forced into poverty. This problem is too big to ignore, and it’s growing.
Private child support enforcement agencies are an important part of the solution to this growing problem. In response to this critical need, private child support enforcement agencies around the country have joined in the effort and are successfully collecting millions of dollars in child support for the families who choose to use their services.
I am proud to report that to-date, our member companies have collected more than $300 million in child support for American families, the majority of whom had not received a child support payment in more than four years.
We believe that custodial parents deserve options, and private child support enforcement agencies ensure parents a valuable alternative.
We will continue to do our part to ensure that all parents continue to have options, to work toward better cooperation between the private and public sectors, and to see that the more than $106 billion dollars owed to America’s children is collected.
David Conder
President
